Sarah Palin ‘we used to hustle on over the border for health care’

This goes in my WTF category.  I just don’t know what to say.
It was little surprise that Sarah Palin’s first visit to our home and native land (of public health care and gay marriage) would be in Calgary. It also shouldn’t be surprising that she was able to curry favour with the local crowd by [...]

Harkin: Reconciliation is a go

It’s about time.  Bipartisanship isn’t going to happen.  Most Republicans seem to think that bipartisanship means Democrats doing what Republicans want.   (Sorry to be so late posting this but I had to take my Mom to the eye surgeon today.)

Harkin: Reconciliation is a go
Sen. Tom Harkin told POLITICO that Senate Democratic leaders have decided to [...]

The Health Care Summit

I listened to the health care summit most of the day today.  There was a lot of information tossed out and lots of suggestions from both sides of the aisle.  The Republicans want a plan that would insure 3 million more people and the Democrats want a plan that will insure 30 million more people.  [...]

Senate Rejects Abortion Restrictions 54 To 45

Well, bravo.  This was just an attempt to use Health Care Reform to undermine Roe v. Wade.  I wish these guys would get their religion out of our government.  Abortion is legal and it’s a health care issue and thus should be covered as health care.
WASHINGTON — The Senate has rejected an effort to stiffen [...]

Cutting waste will protect Medicare

I hope you will click on the link and read the whole article.  It is quite enlightening.  I certainly wasn’t happy about Medicare cuts, but if this article is correct, those cuts would be savings cuts, not cuts to care.

Senate Votes for Cuts in Medicare Home Health Payments

What’s the point of extending insurance to more people if you are cutting the benefits of medicare recipients?  That just leaves the medicare patients in the same boat as those who previously didn’t have insurance….unable to afford needed medical care.
I’ve said all along that while I support the idea of health care reform, I would [...]

Senate votes to bring health-care bill to the floor

Now the fight begins.
The Senate voted on party lines Saturday night to end a Republican filibuster and bring a bill that would overhaul the nation’s health-care system to the Senate floor.
After days of indecision, the two final holdouts — Sens. Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.) and Mary Landrieu (D-La.) — voted with all 60 members of their [...]
