CHINCOTEAGUE, Va. — Emergency officials on Chincoteague Island have ordered a curfew as Hurricane Sandy flooded streets, prompting several rescues.
The island has no shelters and no way off after closure of the 5-mile causeway to the mainland. The island’s emergency planning coordinator said Monday that no one is allowed on the streets except emergency personnel.
