According to the U.S. Department of Justice, an estimated 91% of the victims of rape and sexual assault are female and 9% are male. Nearly 99% of the offenders they described in single-victim incidents are male.

Only 2% of rapists are convicted and imprisoned.

Yes, you read that right – 99% of rapists are MEN. And yet it is MEN who think they should determine how women  handle the possible consequences of rape. Men, who are overwhelmingly the rapists, think they should also dictate to women that they should carry the offspring of said rapists.

One thing we know about rape is that there is a very strong element of control in rape.  We see the same need to control women in the very legislators who want to make abortion, even in the case of rape, illegal.  Control freaks want to force women to give birth to the offspring of control freaks. This isn’t your regular benign, run of the mill control freaks, these are freaks who love to control women.

Whether a man wants to control a woman through rape or by dictating her reproductive choices after a rape, the root problem is men think they have the right to control women. Where did they get that idea? What gives any man the right to control an adult female just by virtue of the fact he is male and she is female?

The men who want to force women to carry a pregnancy caused by rape, who want to determine a woman’s right to control her own reproductive processes, the men who make excuses for rapists (she asked for it, she was dressed inappropriate, or even she made it up) are, as far as I’m concerned, no better than the rapist. They too, want to force their will, their desires, their wants on women. By their very words and actions, they give legitimacy to the rapists and enable the rapists. And to that I say to every one of these sick bastards….go to hell. Yes, I said it, go to hell. These are the great enablers of rapists. These are the men who write the laws, who make getting a conviction of rape almost impossible. These are the men who allow the justice system to emotionally rape women all over again. These are the men who think women should be submissive and who have no right to tell their husbands no. These are the men who congratulate each other as they sign anti-abortion bills into law.

These men who stand in judgment and want to force a woman to give birth to the offspring of an obviously sick human being are sick, demented, hellish freaks who do NOT speak for God and do not have any right to force their will on a woman by virtue of their sex and sick need to control.

It’s easy to understand why so many conservatives don’t believe in evolution when these conservative men, in the year 2012, continue to display knuckle-dragging, neanderthal attitudes towards women.

There’s a song that expresses what I feel about these out of control, control freaks:

But he can’t even run his own life
I’ll be damned if he’ll run mine (from Sunshine by Jonathan Edwards).

As for the inevitable accusation that I hate men I say: I don’t hate men, I actually love and admire the men in my life. I am surrounded by warm, loving, caring men who believe that I am their equal in the eyes of God and the law. They believe women have the right to self-determination and the intelligence to know what is best for their own lives. They are men who believe that if a woman is intelligent enough to raise a child, she is intelligent enough to decide whether or not she WANTS to have a child. These are not men who live to control women and they are not men who makes excuses for rapists.

Isn’t it time women DEMAND the respect they deserve as adults with the intelligence and God given free will to make their own decisions? Isn’t it time for women to say ENOUGH?

Sage, you’ve written another blog entry that expresses how so many of us feel. And it’s not just women: On the CNN.com site I read an article about how news (and disbelief) about Akin’s idiocy has spread around the world. A professor in Australia, Ron Brooks, has recognized that Akin is only one of the crazy old rich white men in the US Republican Party. His comment:

‘On a more serious note, Brooks wrote: “What strikes me about the anachronistic attitudes of evangelicals and their Republican puppets to abortion, contraception, family planning, female economic empowerment and feminism in general, is just how unambiguously male these attitudes are.

“An entire political party in one of the most advanced and educated countries on earth has become a caricature of the most basal evolved insecurities about masculinity. They seem terrified of losing control over the means of reproduction and petrified of cuckoldry,” he said.’

I assume the GOP took out insurance on their convention, most likely covering acts of God. Seeing that God comes at them everytime they gather, the insurance companies may deny them coverage until they get right with God.

    Amen. :-)
