Eight killed in Afghan suicide blast were CIA agents

There’s just no end to the violence, is there?  Maybe it’s time we realize we aren’t going to change the world and butt out of the affairs of other countries.

The explosion was at a military base in Khost province, near the border with Pakistan, U.S. officials said.

The base is a center for personnel working on reconstruction projects as part of U.S. President Barack Obama’s strategy to try to stabilize the country after eight years of war.

“We can confirm that there was an explosion in Khost province and eight Americans have been killed,” said a U.S. official in Kabul.

Several others, none of them U.S. or NATO troops, were wounded in the explosion at Forward Operating Base Chapman, defense officials said, without providing any further details.

CIA officials in Washington were not immediately available for comment and U.S. officials said they could not provide details pending notification of the agents’ families.

I think butting out of other countries’ affairs would be a good beginning towards peace. Oil greed gets in the way.
