I think this is a form of sexism at work. I think extreme book signing is actually very difficult to do, and do well. But the media would never respect it as being a “skill” because women can do it as well, and perhaps better than man. Because women can sign books as well, if not better than men, the media discounts it as being meaningful.

If however, men were known to be much faster and better than women at signing many books at a time, there would be stories done about how strong and how much stamina a man has. It is this kind of subtle disrespect that represses women in the media and how men view them.

Love Hillary or hate her, nobody can question her work ethic.

This would make a great Saturday night live skit. Comparing hand signature stamina and having a group panel discuss Sarah vs Hillary. Show clips of both Hillary and Sarah signing it out.

Maybe have a horse racing announcer call it. Cut to a voice over of the hand signing technique and strategy each uses. Hillary icing her hand.

By the way, I totally respect the energy that must go into actually signing each and every book while also trying to briefly speak to the person while doing it.

Senator Clinton has sometimes signed until she can no longer move her hand. At a Wal-Mart in Virginia, a volunteer administered a vigorous rubbing to revive it. Senator Clinton soaks it in ice or wears a wrist-support to recover.

”Signing 1,500 books in an hour and a half is not an easy thing to do while you are shaking hands with everybody, and she has continued to do it with great enthusiasm,” said Carolyn Reidy, president for adult books at Simon & Schuster, Mrs. Clinton’s publisher.

More than 400 people had lined up before the 11 a.m. event at Barnes & Noble, some after waiting through the night for a chance to get a quick chat with the former first lady on the book’s first day in stores.

The Democratic senator said the event left her hand “a little worse for the wear,” but added, “I really enjoyed it and I tried to talk to people so I could actually have a good time.”

To handle the crowd, bookstore employees issued wristbands, like those given to rock concert fans. The bookstore had originally planned to give out 250, but distributed more than 1,000 as the event stretched on, said Donna Passannante, a Barnes & Noble executive.

It seems that the barracuda/pit bull has very little stamina for a barracuda/pit bull. Palin is a joke at best. The only thing she’s good at is running her mouth and that’s only if you don’t mind listening to gibberish.
