@Sage, A relief it most assuredly was. And a year ago, when she was riding her bike and was hit by a car near her home, the first thing the Boston hospital ER did was ask for her insurance card. She had a broken collarbone, a twisted leg, and was dizzy from the blow to her head – but she had to figure out where her insurance card was (not on her person…she was riding her bike).
Hmmmm, sounds like she lives a risky life. Not necessarily, but she is more active than her decrepit old mother.

@Sage, I have felt the same about Franken. He has taken this role as Senator seriously as all senators should. I hope he continues to be the person who (nearly) fills Wellstone’s shoes.

Germany is the same country that, when my daughter was injured in an accident, cared for her with the best medical skills and charged her nary a farthing, pence, penny, cent. Didn’t ask for anything but her name.

Didn’t Farrah Fawcett go to Europe for cancer care and ended up in remission? Her cancer was incurable but they got her into remission when the US facilities couldn’t

Cancer Survival Rates? Dr.F is implying that French and German or Swiss systems don’t have good survival rates due to poor medical care? I suppose our inability to buy care will take us right to where she is wanting to peg the universal healthcare systems in those countries.
