Census Worker Hanged: Bill Sparkman Found With “Fed” On Body
There is a lot of speculation about Sparkman’s death and at the heart of the speculation is the anti-census rhetoric that has recently come up from Michelle Bachmann and others on the right. I personally think suicide is unlikely, but whether or not his job as a census taker had anything to do with his death is yet to be seen. I think too few facts have been revealed to attribute his death to his job as a census taker. A report today from MSNBC quotes a retired trooper who says he warned Sparkman to be careful in rural Kentucky. Gilbert Acciardo told MSNBC, “Even though he was with the Census Bureau, sometimes people can view someone with any government agency as ‘the government.’ I just was afraid that he might meet the wrong character along the way up there,”
The Office of Personnel Management Director John Berry said, “If this is an attack on a federal employee, I can assure you that no resources will be spared to find the perpetrators.”
WASHINGTON — The FBI is investigating the hanging death of a U.S. Census worker near a Kentucky cemetery, and a law enforcement official told The Associated Press the word ‘fed” was scrawled on the dead man’s chest.
The body of Bill Sparkman, a 51-year-old part-time Census field worker and occasional teacher, was found Sept. 12 in a remote patch of the Daniel Boone National Forest in rural southeast Kentucky. The Census has suspended door-to-door interviews in rural Clay County, where the body was found, pending the outcome of the investigation.
Investigators are still trying to determine whether the death was a killing or a suicide, and if a killing, whether the motive was related to his government job or to anti-government sentiment.

I have been watching Michelle Bachmann for awhile. She was one of the early ones with the rhetoric calling for an investigation of the Senate and House members for anyone that is “Un- American”. This came after Sarah Palins descriptions and implications, during the campaign of what is American and what is not.
She linked Swine flu to Democrats claiming the last epidemic was also in a democratic Presidents tenure. That would be Jimmy Carter. It was actually during Fords Administration.
She also said we should all slit our wrists in a covent, be blood brothers against healthe care reform.
My favorite?
It’s under the guise of — quote — volunteerism. But it’s not volunteers at all. It’s paying people to do work on behalf of government. …
I believe that there is a very strong chance that we will see that young people will be put into mandatory service. And the real concerns is that there are provisions for what I would call re-education camps for young people, where young people have to go and get trained in a philosophy that the government puts forward and then they have to go to work in some of these politically correct forums.”
Her own son just joined Americorp.
She called on Minnesotan’s to be “armed and Dangerous” against cap and trade
It goes on to “Flying Inmans”, not filling out the censu forms because its a democratic too for elections.
She’d be funny if she wasn’t a Representative

Hmm – If Michelle Bachmann was successful in persuading Republicans not to fill out census forms, that could leave them underrepresented. Has she thought this through?

No, I don’t think she has.

What in particular. I see a few periods missing.
Bachman’s comments are so often over the top ludicrous, one has to wonder what the hell her problem is.

I never heard of this Michelle, until this post!
BUT re: the census worker…. this is VERY disturbing. Although ,I hate to think anyone has killed themself, the idea that this is a murder is very frightening. So I hope they can find out what for sure happened and it just ends there! But my gut says this is going to stir up some trouble.

I personally think it was murder since the FBI is so involved. If they really thought it was suicide the FBI wouldn’t be part of the investigation.
