I see Michael Steele has a new add trying to stroke the elderly. I went to the GOP website to see the "Senior Bill of Rights" and can't find it. Maybe they just want all those techno savvy senior citizens searching the whole site.
That being said, Not so long ago the Republicans were trying to reform medicare benefits by cutting them. Bush proposed privatizing Social Security by having us invest more toward our retirement. Most people did, How are their 401k's and other investments now, almost a year from 9/24/08?
Credibility, Mr Steele.

That's a good point and I don't know how premiums will be determined. If it isn't a significant savings over private insurance premiums there isn't much point to a public option.

You know what I noticed? No one is talking about premiums. I am assuming that public insurance would have them for those that can afford. Perhaps on a sliding scales based on income. Am I wrong?

You are right. It won't and only because the politicians want to keep feeding the greedy insurance companies which, in turn, feed them.

It does make sense but I don't think there is any way it would happen.

More than a public option, why not Universal Healthcare = Medicare for all. Aren't our taxes already paying for those who show up at the Emergency Rooms without insurance? Why not raise taxes for the specific purpose of providing health care for all. It makes sense to me.
