Liberals voice concerns about Obama – Open Post
While conservatives worry that Obama is way too liberal, liberals are increasingly becoming upset that he is way too conservative.
By CAROL E. LEE & NIA-MALIKA HENDERSON | 12/8/08 4:22 AM EST
Barack Obama in a December 7 press conference.Liberals are growing increasingly nervous – and some just flat-out angry – that President-elect Barack Obama seems to be stiffing them on Cabinet jobs and policy choices.
Obama has reversed pledges to immediately repeal tax cuts for the wealthy and take on Big Oil. He’s hedged his call for a quick drawdown in Iraq. And he’s stocking his White House with anything but stalwarts of the left.
Now some are shedding a reluctance to puncture the liberal euphoria at being rid of President George W. Bush to say, in effect, that the new boss looks like the old boss.
Please us this post as an open thread.
“He has confirmed what our suspicions were by surrounding himself with a centrist to right cabinet. But we do hope that before it’s all over we can get at least one authentic progressive appointment,” said Tim Carpenter, national director of the Progressive Democrats of America.
OpenLeft blogger Chris Bowers went so far as to issue this plaintive plea: “Isn’t there ever a point when we can get an actual Democratic administration?”

I’ll tell them what I tell the republicans who aren’t happy with Obama already….wait until he’s in office. Not every President is going to keep every promise, not even Obama. That’s just reality. What he needs to focus on RIGHT NOW, is the economy. That is a priority over everything, even ‘big oil’.

Exactly…it’s the economy.

I’m going to take a moment to interrupt this conversation to remind folks that tomorrow is the deadline for getting the Holiday Mail for Heroes out.
I know that we’re focused on things like Christmas shopping, decorating and the discussions that go on here on Sage’s blog, but really, is our discussion so important here, in the grand scheme of things, that we can’t take time to do something purposeful for those men and women who are putting their lives on the line in Iraq and Afghanistan?
Our conversations here will be forgotten 3 months from now, but if you can picture a service person pulling YOUR card out of their rucksack and reading it just one more time – just to reassure him/herself that someone other than their immediate family cares about what they are doing, then you’ll realize how important this is.
Go out today – buy a box of cards, take 30 minutes to write “What you’re doing matters and people at home appreciate what you are sacrificing for us”. Put the cards in a large envelope – you can actually buy them at the post office, and get them in the mail.
In the cold and dreary months of January, February and March, you can sit back and smile and know that you’ve made a difference for someone, somewhere.
Thanks so much!

Well just heard on the news think it was CBS about Leo’s suit being dismissed and briefly what it was about and then the very last sentence was, “Officials have said he was born in Hawaii”. Guess he was talking about the officials in Hawaii, but whatever just something to say so the Obots can say, see see not get used to it. He won and he will be Prez.
I wonder what this is about?
Dec 1 2008 Motion for leave to file amicus brief filed by respondent Bill Anderson.
Translated as “friend of the court”, that refers to someone, not a party to a case, who volunteers to offer information on a point of law or some other aspect of the case to assist the court in deciding a matter before it. The information may be a legal opinion in the form of a brief, testimony that has not been solicited by any of the parties, or a learned treatise on a matter that bears on the case. The decision whether to admit the information lies with the discretion of the court.

I just read this article in conwebblog about WND’s drive for sending mail to supreme court. lol. the wnd charges $10.95 to send a letter to the Supreme Court for you. Then, they package ‘em up in sets of 9 and send them on. There is money to be had in this economy. lol (I keep wondering when folks are gonna start asking Berg if he has any other client? just keep pushing that donate button.) and WTP? lol
Anyway… you do the math on the WND thing.
http://conwebwatch.tripod.com/blog/
exerpt: “WND claimed in a Dec. 5 article that it sent “6,682 FedEx packages of nine letters each” to the Supreme Court. WND charged each letter-writer $9.95 [raised to 10.95] for the privilege. Somehow we suspect FedEx charged WND a lot less than $89.45 each to overnight those envelopes to Washington. Profit!”

Are you ready for Christmas, DrS?
December 9th, 2008 at 3:17 pm
Almost. We’re going to be moving at the end of January, so we’re hauling loads of misc junk and putting it in storage up there now. The Christmas party is at my house every year, and I’m trying to keep the house nice, while stripping it and hauling it away. lol
My kids are sure glad this will be our last move. When you are pastors you can move a lot more than you want to. We’re not pastors now and we are loving the freedom to just enjoy working in a church instead of having all the responsibilities. For the first time since we were first married we have been able to buy a home and settle. We’re loving it.
December 9th, 2008 at 3:20 pm
I will be packing up my stuff really soon, and move into a country site. I feel your pain as I am feeling mine! I do not know how you do it, but I am starting to feel stress about our move.
December 9th, 2008 at 3:24 pm
You know how our God works, Grace. He can give us a love for the very thing we once abhorred. Moving is one of mine. The ministry has been our life and He’s the one who gives us the marching orders. Moving is sometimes just part of the job. We’ve averaged 3-5 years in every church. We have often taken hurting churches and helped bring healing and strength to the congregation. Right now, though, it’s us that need healing and strength. That’s why God has us where we are now. We are loving it.
December 9th, 2008 at 3:28 pm
Yes God is indeed good. Do not get me wrong…I am looking forward to our new home. I just hate the process of moving.
December 9th, 2008 at 3:29 pm
Oh, I agree. The rewards are worth it though. Aren’t they?
December 9th, 2008 at 3:31 pm

December 9th, 2008 at 3:33 pm
LOL! I hear that.
December 9th, 2008 at 3:38 pm
My husband laughed too, oh boy! lol!
December 9th, 2008 at 3:45 pm
Yes, but, Oh, I do understand. I’m dreading this move more than any other. We are moving into our lake house (1200 sq ft). It’s already furnished. We’re living in a 2400 sq ft house with 4 bed rooms, formals, and an office. I have several curio cabinets full of what-nots and more junk than anyone should be allowed to own. I’ve got to figure out how to get some of it into the lake house.
We’re going to add another 1200 sq ft in the spring, but right now it’s going to be crazy. We’re putting most of it in storage until we decide what we’re going to keep, sell, or give away. It’s more work than I want to think about. In fact, I’ve given myself a headache just thinking about it. I need some aspirin.

Dr. I moved from a home I had lived in for almost 30 yrs. 2500 sq feet plus sheds. Down to about 1200 sq ft I got rid of so much stuff! The only thing I shouldn’t have gotten rid of is my riding mower.
Some times you just have to bite the bullet, distance yourself and go for it. Amazing what you collect over the years! There is nothing that I wish I kept at this point.
December 9th, 2008 at 3:48 pm
It is a pain to move but when you get in the right house and fall in love with where you live it’s all worth it.
December 9th, 2008 at 3:49 pm
We are living in a 1000 sq apartment, and moving into a huge house. So, we are the other way round. The house will be bare for this winter. Come, Spring and Summer…garage sale, here we come!

Jealous. I will be in a small town in a few weeks, but right now it’s lines everywhere. I have a saying that I use all too frequently when I’m stuck in a long, slow line at Wal-mart. Unlike the cashiers, “I’m not paid to be there by the hour.” Of course I don’t say it too often. I still have to shop there.
Sage Reply:
December 9th, 2008 at 4:14 pm
I didn’t even have to stand in line at Wal-mart. Of course I had to track my cart down. I parked it while I went to the rest room and when I came back it was gone. A Wal-mart employee thought I had abandoned it and was getting ready to put everything back on the shelves. That would have been a pain because the stereo for my parents was heavy and I had wrestled it onto the cart once and that was enough.
I bet there was someone in the parking lot laughing at me getting that big box into the back seat of my little car. It wouldn’t fit in the trunk…. my butt was sticking up in the air while I wrestled and fussed trying to get the durn box into the car. I almost dropped it…but I finally got it.
I remember the days when it was my parents buying us kids a stereo.

You know what’s so funny? A year from now we won’t even remember Sammy’s name. Already news is passing Sammy boy by and people just aren’t interested in his crap any longer.
They’re saying over in chat that maybe the Kobots have gone underground. The fact of the matter is – the anesthesia is wearing off and they’re finally figuring out that they’ve been had. Problem is that they don’t have the chutzpa to come out and admit it.
Wonder how long it will be before Cloud/Bones finds another conspiracy to latch on to?
December 9th, 2008 at 6:01 pm
I’m sure if she can’t find one, she’ll make one up. That’s what Scammy did.
December 9th, 2008 at 6:01 pm
Heck, I’ve just been looking at a recipe for molten chocolate cakes. Only takes 20 minutes to make, start to finish. I’m thinking of making those for ya too. After all – it’s Christmas.
BTW, I got my second set of cards in the mail today! Yea!!
December 9th, 2008 at 6:03 pm
Unfortunately, there are already new ones out there in the making. All she’s got to do is a little surfing to find them.
It must be sad to be so lonely that you spend your life hunting the internet for places where you can be “famous” *cough, hack, spit*
December 9th, 2008 at 6:03 pm
I’ll be honest with you, Bantryb. I’ll be so glad when it’s over. That ugly, pudgy face is enough to make one nauseous. It’s sickening to watch him operate and see the people who still believe him grovel so much.
December 9th, 2008 at 6:04 pm
Yep, I totally agree! Certain personalities are drawn to conspiracy (SP? after all I am Kenyan)theories even if they are hoax
December 9th, 2008 at 6:05 pm

You know what’s bad, Bantryb. I spent most of the day today moving files, pictures, videos, etc. from my old laptop to my new one. I’m giving the old one (it’s really not that old) to my son for Christmas and he’s going to pick it up tonight.
While I was moving the files, I cleaned out the temporary internet files, favorites, video downloads, and a sundry other things relating to Scammy, Obama, and company. I thought about what my son would think if he saw all that mess. He has no idea who Scammy is and why I have so many sights bookmarked, etc.
Have you ever thought about having to explain Scammy to someone? Weird, huh?
Bantryb Reply:
December 9th, 2008 at 6:24 pm
Oh Sharon – I’ve tried explaining to friends why I even read that stuff. I’ve finally just told them it’s the “Anatomy of a Con Man and Thug”. That’s the only thing they can understand.
December 9th, 2008 at 6:11 pm
Oh Grace, there are plenty of nutcases on both sides. You don’t have to look far. We’ve lost our moral compass and as a result, people are looking suspiciously at their neighbors and are putting down anyone that’s not just like them. We’re reverting to grade school behavior on a grand scale.
That’s why I say get out and DO something rather than just talk. Words are cheap and easy. Find a way to get involved in making changes in your local government and quit spending so much time obsessing about national matters. I’m on two boards in our hometown – not because I’m some bigwig but because I showed interest and a wee bit of intellgence. I don’t want to go any higher, but I now have the ear of influential people. THAT’S the way to make a difference.

In all honesty, I might be considered naive. I have never seen a person who lie so much. I hope I will never have to meet him in person. He reminds me of John 8:44
“You are of [your] father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own [resources], for he is a liar and the father of it.”
drsharonschuetz Reply:
December 9th, 2008 at 6:27 pm
I’m sad to have to say it, but I have. I’ve met many people who would look you in the eyes and lie, when the truth would have kept them out of trouble. There are some people who are addicted to lying, just like others are addicted to drugs or cigarettes. They can’t tell the truth any more than another can quit smoking cold turkey.

Amen, Grace! You may have never read a book called “The Screwtape Letters” by C. S. Lewis, but in the book, he talks about the little devils that act upon this earth. Sammy definitely is one of those. He steals people away from their families, he poisons minds, he creates doubt, fear and suspicion and he keeps us from more productive things.
That’s why I stay away from here during the day. I don’t have a spouse, so at night, this is what I’m doing instead of watching TV, but it’s keeping me from doing some things that I could do that would be much more productive.
Grace Reply:

Never bothered to grieve over Obama’s victory. I voted, so I did what I could to defeat him. Now am looking at new local and state issues where I can effect a change. Obama’s temporary, even if he serves 8 years. When you get to be my age, you realize how short 8 years is.
