Embracing the Colin Powell endorsement….say what?

Oh, the hypocrisy of it all.  The very same liberals who declared they would never vote for Hillary Clinton because of her Iraq War vote are now celebrating the endorsement of Obama by Colin Powell.  It’s become obvious that Obama supporters can find a way to justify anything (FISA vote anyone?) in their blind support of Barack Obama.

Here’s a man who has repeatedly bragged about having the foresight to have been against the war from the start embracing the man who sold the war to the United Nations.  Obama has slammed McCain for supporting the war but somehow it’s ok to have as one of his advisers the man who sat in front of the WORLD and sold the Iraq war.

Not only is Obama accepting the endorsement, he said:

Colin Powell will have a role as a top presidential adviser in an Obama administration, the Democratic White House hopeful said Monday.

“He will have a role as one of my advisers,” Barack Obama said on NBC‘s “Today” in an interview aired Monday, a day after Powell, a four-star general and President George W. Bush‘s former secretary of state, endorsed him.

“Whether he wants to take a formal role, whether that’s a good fit for him, is something we’d have to discuss,” Obama said.

Lest we all forget what part Colin Powell had in the war in Iraq, here is the United Nations speech he gave.

Are Obama supporters brain dead or high from the kool aid?  The cognitive dissonance must be overwhelming.

Nowhere is the hyprocrisy and stupidity more evident than Democratic Underground:

7515917, I believe in redemption. And I believe Colin Powell deserves credit for trying to make things right.

Colin Powell knows as well as anyone that he blew it when he was Secretary of State. This is his chance for redemption, and I for one welcome him to the Obama campaign.

He did the wrong thing before. He deserves credit for doing the right thing now.

Just pretend it’s all good:

Please control yourself if you don’t like Powell – THIS IS A HUGE endorsement for Obama!!!

Please don’t bash the General…I know I know, all of it…etc.

But, please act like your grateful and supportive!

Just think , how many of BO’s supporters defended him as the Anti-War candidate? And he’s made an Asshole out of every single one of them.!

  2. Madd Shame says:

I guess Colin Powell’s endorsement does not sit too well with you. Well, let me say this. Maybe you have conveniently forgotten the part where he admits the mistake he and the bush government did on the Iraq war. The man has redeemed himself, something I hope you should begin doing in reference to your statement about him.

A man’s strength is not tested by how long he stands, but by how many times he is able to recover from his stumbles.

    Madd Shame

  3. votermom says:

Ugh, can you imagine how BO will pick his cabinet? It will be based on who has the kissed his behind the most.

  4. I believe anything says:

Well, it is not about race … Powell’s endorsement of Obama. It is about all the redeeming republican and conservative values that Obama has espoused.

Abortion, higher taxes, defeat in Iraq, black liberation religion, alliance with Ayers and those ACORN nuts.

If it isn’t about race, then a thinking person can only assume that General Powell is generally senile.

  5. Well, Madd shame, I guess his admission makes up for the 4,000 + lost lives. Powell didn’t just make a mistake he sold out.

    No, he hasn’t redeemed himself.

  6. leslie says:

Powell not only sold out to the Bush administration, he sold out during the Vietnam war and he hasn’t made up for the lives lost there, either. Powell is the same kind of opportunist as Obama. They do what they need to to get where they want to be. They accept support from whatever source in order to gain prominence and influence. They kiss whose ever a$$ will give them even more status.

    (Powell worked to keep information about MyLai under wraps – essentially sweeping it under the proverbial rug. As recently as 2004, he still refused to acknowledge the level of criminal behavior that was the my Lai maassacre.) From all that kissing up, you’d have thought he’d be bent over with permanently swollen lips. Maybe so, but he ultimately became the youngest chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. {{{kiss kiss}}}

To add to this question of character, he spawned Michael Powell, former head of the FCC. The same person who pushed through policies that now gave Rupert Murdoch the ability to own radio, television and major newspapers in the same market. Thereby having the power to foist his personal political beliefs on “low information” non-thinking voters. He learned about doing whatever is needed to get and keep power and influence.

It is no surprise to me that the Obots are thrilled with this endorsement. Their ability to remember history and learn from it is in inverse proportion to their fealty to their American Idol.

  7. thanks for your comment, leslie. Lots of information to think about.
